Educational Therapy
Educational Therapy is individualized instruction that utilizes information from the client’s social, emotional, and educational history to remediate learning difficulties.Educational Therapists at Central Coast Language and Learning Center are trained to facilitate learning cognitive, language, academic and behavioral skills and strategies.

Educational therapists are trained to assess and remediate areas of difficulty, and to teach compensatory strategies to students with learning disabilities, and other learning differences. Educational Therapists at Central Coast Language and Learning Center will provide mentoring, communication with teachers, and individual instruction.

Educational therapy sessions range from 30 minutes long to 2 hour sessions. The treatment sessions are goal driven and data based to clearly track academic progress. Therapists receive ongoing training to remain current in the research and methods of treatment. Individuals come to Central Coast Language and Learning Center with learning differences that range from mild learning problems to those who have complex learning disabilities. Our scope of practice includes:
  • Learning style differences
  • Specific Learning Disabilities (including dyslexia, language disorders, and nonverbal learning disabilities)
  • Attention difficulties (including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
  • Gifted learners
  • Autism

On site tutoring: CCLLC Educational Therapists offer on site tutoring at several local schools for students who need ongoing, regular support for their learning issues but need to meet during the school day in order to meet other after school commitments. During weekly sessions, students receive instruction in specific strategies to improve the ease and efficiency of skills, as well as general academic coaching. Whenever possible, students’ coursework is used as the basis for skills instruction.
